Poetry Fest 2019

Image
The Chicago Public Library's annual Poetry Fest "Poem While You Wait" even was yesterday and, of course, you bet I went there and signed up.  This year I requested a poem on this:  Punctuation Matters. Before I darted off to get the Bob Dylan CDs I had on hold, I thanked Rachel Slotnik for last year's poem about expository writing which I framed!  This year, Hannah Radeke took on the assignment and produced the excellent offering below.  Excellent because every time I've read it, I see it differently.  I've laughed, I've thought, I've considered.  Well done, Hannah! Thanks, Hannah!

Happy holidays

Happy Easter.  Happy Passover.

Game of Thrones

And so begins the beginning of the end of "Game of Thrones." Between 7pm and 10pm Central time, don't look for me.  "But it comes on at 8 Central."  "Killing Eve" owns my brain from 7pm until 8pm and then "Game of Thrones" owns my brain and my ass. At work there's a pool called, "Pool of Thrones."  For the Monday mornings after the final episodes, the pool group has reserved a conference room to discuss the goings-on.  They used to meet in the lunchroom but there were those who could not watch until Monday night so they decided not to spoil the fun for them and got a conference room. "You're welcome to join us," the organizer said. "I have to work," I replied. Aren't they just the most awesome, though?  I really am in awe.

Roomie update

I showed a picture of my favorite  Osaka acquisition -- Radish Spirit -- to a friend.  I took this picture on the window ledge of my living room with my view of the lake, the park, and some homes behind him.  The perspective makes him seem immense.  "This is what I brought home from Osaka," I advised my friend. "How did you get it home?" she asked. "It's about two inches tall, so in my suitcase," I said.  "It's the perspective of a close-up of him with the lake behind him that makes him seem enormous." "Oh."
