Responses to Scared White People

Last week's post, "Scared White People," brought some interesting responses, surprisingly favorable, but two people asked me what I was so pissed about.  I said, "Scared white people."

Scared white people piss me off as they are scared for all the wrong reasons.  They hate Jews, Blacks, Asians, Latinx, Native Americans, and any combination of those.  There are many things they should be afraid of but they are too dumb to accept these as a threat.

Dictators.  When the leader of your country admires dictators and despots, there is a real problem.  It probably means that he wants to be a dictator or despot, too.  Or maybe he just wants to be like a Mafia don:  No one questions him or his actions and he is blamed for nothing.  He takes the Teflon presidency of Ronald Reagan to a whole other level.  Guess who I am talking about?  It's Trump!  Did you not guess? If you did not then why are you even reading this blog?

Covid-19.  This is a brand new disease.  AIDS in the early-to-mid 80s was also a new disease and what the people who got it were afflicted with was horrible and many seemed wildly different.  It was a long time before the medical community found that a chemical cocktail could keep it in check.   People think the AIDS crisis is over but it's not.  There have been exactly zero people cured of AIDS.  No one ever said, "If I get it, then I get it," about AIDS.  Instead, they started having safe sex, wearing condoms for sexual encounters, men and women, young and old.  If a person with AIDS knowingly has unprotected sex with someone who doesn't know he has AIDS, that fucker, literally a fucker, can be arrested and sent to prison for attempted murder.  The boneheads who say, "Fuck Covid" and "It is what it is" and "We all die sometime" and "If I get it, then I get it" are the ones most often whining about wearing a mask and not being able to party with a thousand people in your personal space.  Think of wearing a mask as a condom for your friends' or partner's face and lungs.  Think of social distancing as personal space on steroids.

No US Mail.  Happy birthday to you!  Your birthday is in June; the card arrives in August.  You had  surgery!  Your friend sends you an amusing get-well card to wish you a speedy recovery.  You receive it sometime; no particular time, just "sometime."  "The check is in the mail!"  Years ago there was a cartoon in the New Yorker that pictured the planets revolving around the sun:  Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, Pluto, the check.  You don't need money, do you, not for your mortgage or groceries or beer, oh my?  I order stuff on line and the vendors mostly use the USPS; they might use Fedex Smartpost which means it starts out with Fedex and is transferred to the USPS for delivery.  UPS may also have a UPS-to-USPS transfer option.  Remember hearing about the Pony Express?  It was an exciting and thrilling albeit short time but the mail had to get through with guys riding fast horses, changing to fresh, fast horses, changing to fresh, fast horses, to the destination.  That was the United States Postal Service and not a bunch of guys thinking they could do better on horses.  Wait!  I have a pretty good idea!  You will not be getting any mail for five months -- no periodicals, drugs, checks, cards, circulars, catalogs, packages, or gifts.  Sucks, doesn't it?

Louis DeJoy.  This person has an agenda.  He can only be acting this way if he was promised something a lot better and someone who's been promised something unimaginably better is likely to do the unspeakable to get it and lie all along the way.

No libraries.  Seriously.  There was a sign in the library near where I once lived that said, "A library will get you through a time of no money better than money will get you through a time of no books."

Hot, hot heat.  Climate change is real.  Last week it was 130º in Death Valley, California.  The air conditioning in my car will never work again and yesterday I was driving around seeing about another car but the 92º day in a small space with the windows open was still hot and by the time I got home I was not just sweaty all over, I was exhausted from the heat.  Add 40º to that and it's hell but with access to ice water.  California's wildfires are worse every year which Trump says is because they don't rake enough.  IN A FOREST?  When have you every known the forest to be raked?  Do you know what a rake looks like?  Climate change can't be addressed if climate controls are continually loosened.

Stupid white people.  There are scared white people who have some smarts.  The ones who are stupid, too, who will not see reason and don't have love in their hearts, who think if you don't believe what they believe that you are a menace to society,  and take being a scared white to the next level of smack-my-headedness, what my mom called someone with an ugly character.   Some things they believe:  the earth is flat; prominent Democrats are running a child prostitution ring out of a pizza joint in Washington, DC; hydroxychloroquine will cure Covid-19; oleander, a very toxic-to-humans plant, can be developed to be a cure for Covid-19 (TAKE NOTHING CONTAINING OLEANDER unless you have a death wish); and an actual medical doctor who said that doctors make medicine using DNA from aliens (not your from-another-land alien neighbors but space aliens), and that they're trying to create a vaccine to make you immune from becoming religious.  That last one?  Our scared and stupid white person in chief thinks she has an interesting voice.  No, no, not tonal quality but opinions.

I have given myself an annoyance headache.  My final note:  Fear no one because they are different from you; be very afraid if they threaten your freedoms.
